Cauli Crusts

Pizza.

Aha, is there really ever a better intro hook? Come on, it’s pizza, right?

Ok, I’ll be perfectly honest with you, this isn’t exactly pizza… But before you throw a sledgehammer at me, hear me out.

It’s crispy, crunchy, warm, and carb-y. Yes carb-y. I love me some crusty carb-y creations.

Let’s add on cauliflower and we got ourselves a tongue twister… A delicious one at that. Honestly, it’s like this vegetable was sent from heaven to the fit foodie followers down here, because add an egg, some seasoning, and special stuff that you’ll have to read below to uncover (trippy huh) and you get this tortilla/bread/pizza crust thing that’s strangely addictive. Imagine that: addictive veggies. Stick with me and you’ll see it’s actually not as much of an oxymoron as you’d think.

Cauli Crusts

Ingredients:

-1/4 large cauliflower head or 1/2 small cauliflower head processed in the blender to “rice-like” granules… But if that sounds like a lot of work check out my post https://goo.gl/NZ5NtV for a short-cut

-1 egg beaten lightly with a fork

-1 tbsp chickpea or quinoa flour

-seasoning: pinch of salt/pepper/herbs to taste

Get ready for a very hard recipe: just mix it all together.

Boom. Then form little patties…

And place them in a preheated 350 degree Farenheit oven.

20-25 minutes later…

Voila!

But what’s that ketch-up like substance to the right of those beauties you ask?

You got me. Get ready for it. Fit foodie pizza sauce hack (also just *caugh* lazy girl *caugh* hack):

Mix a spoonful of tomato paste with some salt and pepper.  If you want it a little more runny just add a bit of water.

And now you’re ready for toppings!

Smoked Salmon & Avo Delicacy: Spread this divine (if I say so myself) “butter” on that you’ll find at https://goo.gl/CBlgP7, layer some smoked salmon, add a few sprigs of dill and fall into the creamy crispy delight that this is.

Cauli Chix: Spread some of the fit foodie tomato sauce, add a few leaves of arugula, and layer on some of your favorite chicken.

Simply Satisfying: Who needs toppings? Fit foodie pizza crust, fit foodie tomato sauce and I’m set! Yes. I felt the need to say fit foodie twice. Say it enough and it becomes a chant. Fit. Foodie. Fit. Foodie. Fit. Teen. Foodie. Fit! Teen! Foodie! The revolution has begun.
